Grants

BONDS offers grants to neighborhood associations to carry out projects and programs that will aid in the strengthening of the community.  The maximum request is $5500 and the average amount awarded is $1600.00.  There are minimal requirements for BONDS grants:

  • Be a neighborhood or homeowner’s association (have by-laws, hold regularly scheduled meetings, and have elected officers)
  • Have eight (8) people willing to commit to the projects which includes training requirements by BONDS 
  • Have minutes from the meeting in which the BONDS grant was discussed with the entire association.
  • Have an active checking account in the name of the  neighborhood/ homeowners association

Successful Grant Awards

A few of the more recent grants awarded by BONDS:

  • Neighborhood identification markers in Green Acres, Spring Valley/ Cross Creek/ Valley Village, and Montgomery East, College Grove, Halcyon Estates, etc.
  • Historic Landmark signs in Cottage Hill Area, Captiol Heights Area
  • Community Health Fair and the Adoption of a Senior Center in Woodley Park Communities
  • A three-phase security wall in Greater Washington Park, in partnership with other community partners
  • Youth programs in Regency Communities, Brewer Heights, Monterey Park/ Hunter’s Point
  • Family Fun Day/ Back to School Rally for students in the Sheridan Heights Community
  • Underground sprinkler system for the Rolling Hills Community
  • Funding to erect a Community Gazebo in Knollwood
  • Resource Directory for Senior residents of Westgate Estates
  • Lighting for security purposes in Carriage Hills
  • Landscaping efforts in Memorial Height
