The Central Alabama Community Foundation administers scholarship funds that are available to area residents for post-secondary educational expenses.  The criteria for awarding each scholarship vary.  Please read each scholarship fund description, listed below, carefully to see if you are eligible to apply.

Earl P. Andrews, Jr. Memorial Scholarship:

Funded in 1989 by Mrs. Olive Andrews in memory of her son, this scholarship is awarded annually to a minority student based on academic achievement and need.

Applicant must have a minimum ACT score of 23 (or SAT equivalent) and a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.  High school transcripts and essay outlining career goals are required.   Finalists will have a personal interview with a selection committee.  Value of scholarship ranges from $500 to $1,000.

 
Jackson Family Phoenix Fund:

This scholarship fund was established to aid minority students in Montgomery and Lowndes counties. 

Applicant must be attending an Historically Black College or University, majoring in non-medical sciences.  Minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0 is desirable.  High school transcript and essay outlining career goals are required.

 
Jay Murphy Scholarship:

This scholarship is designed to provide financial aid to deserving individuals who have the desire to become teachers, who related well with young people, and who can benefit from the financial assistance it offers.

Applicants may be entering or continuing college, or individuals who are in education and want to upgrade their skills, or individuals who are working and wish to go back to college to become teachers.   Applicants must have a 2.5 grade point average.  Transcript and essay outlining career goals are required.  Finalists will have a personal interview with the selection committee.  Value of scholarship ranges from $200 to $1,000.

 
Kiwanis Club of Montgomery Scholarship Fund Application:

The Central Alabama Community Foundation administers the Kiwanis Club of Montgomery Scholarship Fund. These renewable scholarships are available to graduates of Montgomery County schools who are attending an accredited college or university. Although there is no minimum ACT or SAT score, students must indicate by their academic performance the ability or motivation to graduate from college. Preference is given to students demonstrating financial need and to former Key Club members. Consideration is also given to students’ leadership, character, ability, and participation in extracurricular activities. Applicants must submit copy of transcript and three (3) reference letters from individuals including, but not limited to, their pastor and at least one teacher.

Santee Family Scholarship:

Established in 1992 by Mr. Roger Santee, this scholarship is awarded to residents or former residents of the Alabama Sheriff's Boys and Girls Ranches. 

Applicants must be sponsored by a Ranch Staff person and must be under the age of 25.  Copy of high school transcript is required. Applicant must submit a biographical sketch and an essay outlining career goals.  Two $1,000 scholarships are awarded annually.
