SACF Scholarships

Through its scholarship funds, the Southeast Alabama Community Foundation assists area students attain their academic goals by offsetting their postsecondary educational expenses.  Though the forms are available year-round, the annual application deadline is April 1 for funds awarded each September.

HIGH SCHOOL/COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT SUBMISSIONS:  High school and college counselors can click here to submit student transcripts.  You will need to establish an account using your email address.  Once you have an account, you will be taken to a listing of all of our scholarship programs and links to submit transcripts or references (near the bottom of the listing).  Click on the Transcript Submission Process for High School/College Counselors link, enter the student’s name, and upload the file of the student’s transcript.  Should you not have an electronic or scanned copy of the student’s transcript, click on the “Fax to File” option in the left-hand menu and follow the instructions.  This will give you the opportunity to fax the transcript to an 800 number, where an electronic version will be created for you. 

REFERENCE LETTERS:  You can click here to submit a reference for a student.  You will need to establish an account using your email address.  Once you have an account, you will be taken to a listing of all of our scholarship programs and links to submit transcripts or references (at the bottom of the listing).  Click on the Letters of Reference Process for Individuals Submitting References link, enter the student’s name, and upload your letter of reference.  Should you not have an electronic or scanned copy of your letter, click on the “Fax to File” option in the left-hand menu and follow the instructions.  This will give you the opportunity to fax the reference letter to an 800 number, where an electronic version will be created for you. 

Summary of the programs available:

NEW FOR 2012!

  • The Fort Rucker Thrift Shop and Community Scholarship for High School Seniors:  Three scholarships of $3,000 each shall be awarded to graduating high school seniors who are residents of Dale, Geneva, Coffee, Henry, or Houston counties.  Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or better and must have volunteered a minimum of 30 hours per school year (June to May) within their community during high school.   Applicants shall provide their high school transcript, an essay outlining their education/career goals, and the name/address/phone number for their point of contact within each organization where they volunteered.  APPLY
  • The Fort Rucker Thrift Shop and Community Scholarship for Undergrad and Graduate Students:   Four scholarships ranging in size from $3,000 to $4,000 each shall be awarded to undergrad or graduate students who are residents of Dale, Geneva, Coffee, Henry, or Houston counties.  Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or better and must have volunteered a minimum of 50 hours per calendar year within the Ft. Rucker Thrift Shop (as recorded within the VMIS system) or within the community (with proof provided by the community group or agency).   Applicants shall provide their college transcript, an essay outlining their education/career goals, and the name/address/phone number for their point of contact at the thrift shop or the community group or agency with whom they volunteered. APPLY

 

The following program is available to graduating seniors of any Dothan high school.

  • Ronnie Mendheim Memorial Scholarship – Established in 2005 to honor Ronnie Mendheim’s legacy of helping youth. Any graduate of a Dothan high school is eligible. Scholarship awards will be based on the following criteria: (1) academic achievement and (2) school/community activities that demonstrate leadership abilities. Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 and minimum ACT score of 21. Include: T,E,R.

The following program is available to graduating seniors from Northview High School, Dothan High School, or Houston Academy.

  • Adam Gay Scholarship –Established in loving memory of an outstanding athlete and senior at Northview High School who was tragically killed in an automobile accident in August, 1999. Any graduating senior/athlete from Northview High School, Dothan High School, or Houston Academy is eligible to apply. Awards are based on the student’s academic record, athletic accomplishments, and character. Applicants must have: maintained a B average, participated in a sport at his/her high school, and demonstrated good character through leadership roles and service to school and community. Include: T,E,R.

SACF scholarships are being processed online. The applications are available now, and the deadline for submitting an application is April 1, 2012.

To Claim Your Award

When your child starts school in the fall, please have the business office of the college or university contact us, providing written proof of his/her full-time enrollment (e.g., official schedule or letter verifying enrollment status). They can send this letter by whatever means is most convenient.

  • College proof of enrollment letters should be mailed to the attention of Caroline Clark at: 434 N. McDonough Street, Montgomery, AL 36104 (scholarship reference letters need to be submitted ONLINE during application process).
  • Emails can be sent to: cacfgrants@bellsouth.net
  • Faxes can be sent to (334) 263-6225.

Once we receive official confirmation of enrollment status, we will issue a check to the institution to be applied toward his/her expenses.  Please keep in mind that the Foundation is unable to issue any funds without written proof of enrollment
